This is long overdue!

I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted! I am by far the worst blogger ever, but life just gets completely in the way! I don't remember where I last left off exactly, so let's just start with last summer? I broke up with the BF and have been single ever since, and while it was ridiculously rough at first I am now 100% back to myself and I'm so happy about that! I'm still studying to become a teacher and have done my first practicum (in April) which lasted three weeks. Three glorious, ridiculously busy, crazy weeks! But it was absolutely amazing and I finally feel like I'm doing the right thing with my life. It was a little bit touch and go for a while there. I was never quite sure if I really wanted to be a teacher, if I had done it for the right reasons, but now I know I have.

So I've been thinking about this whole blogging thing and realized that only talking about random things in my life doesn't make for very interesting reading so I think I'm going to alter my style of blogging a little bit and talk about some other stuff too. Things like poetry, yoga, my disaterous experiments in the kitchen and other things of that ilk. So hopefully someone can find some use out of this silly little blog of mine. SO to start things off, here is my current favourite poem:

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm

I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea
Yet, never, in extremity
It asked a crumb of me.

                                                     -Emily Dickinson

I've thought quite seriously about having the first stanza of this poem as a tattoo. I think it is such a joyful poem. And I feel like it applies directly to my life. I still haven't decided yet but when I do I'll be sure to mention it. I came across this poem in a book that was given to me by a good friend of mine called The Pocket Daring Book for Girls by Andrea Buchanan and Miriam Peskowitz. It is by far one of the most amazing books I have come across in my life! Where was this when I was 15 and needed some guidance and inspiration! It really is a wonderful book however so if you ever come across it, read it! It's a super quick read and it'll make you smile, definitely more than once!

Cheers!!

  2. Thanks! I think it would make a great tattoo as well! I just don't know if it will fit where I want it, but we'll see!
