First Day of School!!

WOO HOO!!! Finally I got to go to school today!! I swear I've been waiting for school to start forever!!! At least that's what it feels like! The day wasn't particularly eventful but it was a good day. First class was English and my prof looks like he's terrified to be speaking to all of us and his hands shake and he says 'um' a lot the poor thing, he seems prone to tripping over his words as well, but the class itself should be mildly entertaining because there's short stories, some poetry, a play and something else we'll study too but I can't for the life of me remember what exactly. My second class was french and omg that was awful!! The prof is nice but I was expecting a class similar to say..grade 12 French where they teach you vocab and stuff, which they do but the whole class is taught in French and I haven't done proper French in like 3 years so needless to say the minute she got started I was like, "I'm royally fucked" so my plan is to either get into a class that's taught in English so I can replenish my meager knowledge of French OR to drop it and take beginners Italian instead!! I'm just waiting on an email from both my French prof and the prof that teaches Italian and then hopefully that will get sorted in the next few days, the sooner the better! Afterwards I had a HUGE like 6 hour break so I hung out with Darcy a little bit and went home for a bit, popped over to the library and got a few more books and then had some dinner early on and went back to school for my last class at 6:30, it's a three hour lecture but thankfully only about an hour today, I about fell asleep, it's been a busy day, I'm not used to getting up at quarter after 6! Anyways, so the class was Astronomy and the prof is SOOOOO funny listen to, he sounds like your stereotypical gay guy which is kind of funny and he says mmk a LOT, more than he should I think, but he's really really funny, I definitely had to stifle more than one laugh but he got the whole class going a few times! So I'm thinking that is going to be an excellent class :) the lab thing is kind of confusing but I'll just email the prof and see what he says! But yea, it was a fairly eventful day so that was good! Tomorrow I don't have too much, going to go to the gym with Darcy and I'm happy about that, I'll be glad to get back into some form of an exercise regime!! And then I get to try and make dinner for mom and dad tomorrow night, as soon as I figure out what to make them! But I'm sure that it will be ok! Anyways, that's about it for now I think, ttyl!

Cheers!

Shame on Me

Alright, I know it's been ages since I last blogged but to be honest since I've been home from Europe not a whole lot of exciting things have been happening, minus the whole Curtis moving to Ottawa (in 2 days by the way) thing. Though in addition to him moving to Ottawa, I have come to the conclusion that after I finish classes in spring I'm going to move out there with him for my summer off! How brilliant is that?! So I'm actually really excited for that. I think that it will be a good test run to see if we will be able to live together and be in each others space a lot more. I think that if we can manage that though, then we're set. I mean really, we've been together almost 4 years and right now thats the biggest hurdle we need to get over to see if we'll last lots longer (though I'm positive we will!) so it will be good!

Other than that, a lot of people that I work with are gone or leaving soon, all quitting which is lame! Ah well, such is life! But work is pretty good mostly, I still like my coworkers and we've got a few new people now so thats good!

My good friend Darcy is directing a play for the Victoria Fringe Festival and I'm really excited to hear how his opening night went! It's called Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, it's about 3 prisoners of war from very different backgrounds coming together through awful circumstances. At least that's what I think it's about! Either way I think it will be a really good play and I'm actually going to go and see it on Monday night so I'll get to see for myself :)

Last but not least school starts up VERY soon, and yet, not soon enough! I feel as though I've been waiting forever for it to get going but I don't start until the 9th so I've got a ways to go yet! Though I did actually go and get my student ID the other day and the picture is sooo much better than my old ones thank goodness, maybe because I actually TRIED to look decent in it! So I'm really excited to get that started, and I'm going back to school shopping on the 2nd with Yasmin!! Can't wait, we're going thrift store shopping and I'll probably grab a notebook or two whilst I'm out and then that way I don't have to bother with it later! :) Anyways, I think that's really all that I have to say for the time being!!

Cheers!

Two Very Random Thoughts

Is it bad that I'm excited to go back to school simply for the fact that it means I get to go school supply shopping? I'm thinking it probably is...or at least its slightly pathetic! But I really am excited for it, I'm not sure why exactly I find it so entertaining but I just love having new notebooks and brand new pens (though I generally lose half of them in the first week). I remember being little and going school supply shopping, brand new pencil crayons, felts, all the good stuff! I know I'm not the only one who thinks that school supply shopping is fun, I have a few friends who feel the same way!! I'm not the only loser haha! But this year is extra exciting because I've decided its time to invest in a new backpack, mine is getting pretty ratty looking, so hopefully I'll find a backpack that I like. I'm thinking I might get a Dakine backpack because I think they look great plus they look comfy and have a laptop pocket thingy in them, so yea, I'll let you know how that goes, not that anyone really cares about my taste in backpacks I'm assuming. But oh well, I'll torture you with painfully boring backpack conversations again as soon as I have one!

In other news however, Yasmin and I are thinking that maybe since a bunch of the girls that we work with are going back to school we can finally get our Susie Homemaker group going! Let me explain that a little, basically we plan on getting a group of girls together (and it will probably be the girls we work with because we're all pretty good friends) and then we're going to learn skills that the vast majority of us don't seem to posses so that when we have families of our own we'll know what we're doing! So we're going to learn things like how to darn socks, how to crochet, how to sew on a sewing machine and by hand, how to mix the perfect cocktail, how to be a great hostess, just stuff like that. So I'm reallllllly, hoping that we'll be able to get that going because I need those skills, haha best I can do is sing some lullabies and that's pretty much it! But I think it's an awesome idea (and for the record it was Yasmin's idea, and yes she's the one who named it too!) So yes, thats about all I have to say for now.

Cheers!
